Elite schools for their kids. Empty promises for ours.
This website shines a spotlight on politicians whose personal educational choices for themselves and their families conflict with their opposition to charter school and other education choice policies, raising questions about their commitment to equitable education for all.
It serves as a resource for citizens to understand the true priorities of their representatives. Contact us through the form below if you have any tips on other hypocritical politicians that we should highlight.

Hypocrite Highlights
New York State Assemblymember Grace Lee is an avowed opponent of school choice, telling special interest groups she supports keeping the restrictive charter school cap in place, which denies working-class families on waiting lists the ability to access their schools of choice.
She takes those positions hoping to get the backing of powerful political interests that oppose charter schools like the New York State United Teachers.
While that has surely benefited her political career, it’s hurt New York families seeking better options for their children’s education.
But what does it matter to Assembly member Lee, when she sends her own kids to elite NYC private schools like the Blue School?
Grace Lee has proudly posted on her own social media about her kids attending elite private schools, while at the same time denying those very same opportunities to New Yorkers who can’t afford to shell out the over $50,000 in annual tuition.
School choice for Grace Lee, but none for thee.
While Siegrist has personally reaped the benefits of private education, he continues to deny the same opportunities to Iowa families. In fact, he’s the only member of GOP leadership to oppose such bills. In an interview with KMA Land Radio, Siegrist openly admitted, “Both of my children graduated from St. Albert in Council Bluffs,” yet in the same breath, he opposed expanding access to private schools for working-class families, stating, “I don’t think going to an educational savings account system is probably the best way to go.”
The hypocrisy is glaring: Siegrist supports private education for his own family but works to block other families from accessing the same choice.
Gayle Cosby has been a relentless critic of charter schools, especially while she was enjoying the attention during her time on the IPS school board, claiming they “destabilize” school districts.
Yet, while publicly attacking and calling for the destruction of charter schools, she sent her own children to Herron High School—one of Indianapolis’s top charter schools—where her son graduated just last year.
Now, she’s trying to block the expansion of successful charter schools like the one her kids attended, denying other families the same opportunities her family enjoyed.
Elite schools for Gayle Cosby, but empty promises for kids who aren’t part of the elite IPS board or executive team. Since she’s running for IPS school board again this year, it’s time we call her out on her hypocrisy!
