For Me, Not For Thee

Elite schools for their kids. Empty promises for ours.

New York State Assemblymember Grace Lee is an avowed opponent of school choice, telling special interest groups she supports keeping the restrictive charter school cap in place, which denies working-class families on waiting lists the ability to access their schools of choice.

She takes those positions hoping to get the backing of powerful political interests that oppose charter schools like the New York State United Teachers.

While that has surely benefited her political career, it’s hurt New York families seeking better options for their children’s education.

But what does it matter to Assembly member Lee, when she sends her own kids to elite NYC private schools like the Blue School?

Grace Lee has proudly posted on her own social media about her kids attending elite private schools, while at the same time denying those very same opportunities to New Yorkers who can’t afford to shell out the over $50,000 in annual tuition.

School choice for Grace Lee, but none for thee.

This website shines a spotlight on politicians whose personal educational choices for themselves and their families conflict with their opposition to charter school and other education choice policies, raising questions about their commitment to equitable education for all.

It serves as a resource for citizens to understand the true priorities of their representatives. Contact us through the form below if you have any tips on other hypocritical politicians that we should highlight.
